Happy New Year

Its a little after 3am on New Years eve, and I cannot, for the life of me, sleep.

I am exhausted. My eyes are twitching.
I have 2 tylenol PMs and 2 melatonin in my system.
What the heck?!?!?!

So here i am, blogging.

I am, at the moment and for the next few days, in Malibu....
Malibu is where its at, folks.

Except for this weird bedroom that I'm sleeping in. I cant get over the black and gold chair.
It has sarcophagus's on it.
I took the time to do my hair this morning, and I needed to document it.
My hair hasn't looked this good in probably weeks.
And this is the end of day, and I still liked it so I took a picture.
I'm a nerd.

This house we are staying in is AMAZING.
It is just about 7,000 square feet of the most beautifully early 90's decor.
Lots of statues and lots of marble and light oak.
This house, in its prime, was INSANE.

I mean, dont get me wrong, its still pretty rad.
I'll take some photos tomorrow...but for now its time to get back to my "happy new years" banner.
Its 3:15am so it only makes sense, right?

Christmas's of years past

I just have to share these ridiculous Christmas photos.

They are too good.
Screen shot 2011-12-08 at 4.04.20 PM
guessing this is Christmas 1991? I was in 3rd grade and had sweet bangs.
We had a dog, which is weird and didnt last long.
Jordan has Bieber hair.
Megan is in jeans on Christmas morning which is also weird.
Erin looks like a mess, but still has on her hoop earrings...which is normal...
(...for Christmas morning, shes not normally a mess.)

Screen shot 2011-12-08 at 4.03.49 PM
My mom made us holiday sweatshirts. Obviously the boy wears blue. (PUFFPAINT)
My guess for this picture is probably Christmas '87
I just love this picture because it basically shows our personalities to a T.
Erin is still always STYLING and has all the accessories bases covered.
Megan is clearly laughing at how funny I am, which is still the case.
I'm just DARLING and the camera loves me (still true)
and Jordan still hasn't learned how to smile for photos.

Screen shot 2011-12-08 at 4.03.35 PM
1988?
Jordan's sweater is kind of hip. We look like a couple of hipsters.

Screen shot 2011-12-09 at 12.34.03 AM
OBVIOUSLY, My finest year. Guessing its 1992.
It appears I got a Sega Genesis and girl cow slippers.
And i know that forest green thermal henley is new and probably the scrunchy...
...but the sass is not new and I am clearly telling my Granny to GIVE ME A MINUTE. I'M PLAYING SONIC!

Happy December.

Scott the Vigilante

If I were a polygamist, I would want to be Kaisa's sister wife so I could be around for Scotts stories.

Thankfully he videotaped this one.

How many of you have single handedly taken down a drunk driver?

THIS ONLY HAPPENS TO SCOTT BAILEY.
I swear.

SO awesome.

And at one point you can see that hes got his very own copy of the Work and the Glory DVD so you know hes like super righteous.

I should be sleeping but instead i am watching this video over and over.

So proud to know Scott. Such a good guy.

(Scott and Kaisa are not polygamists, and if they are and didnt tell me i am going to be so mad)

4 eyes

The time has come.

Somebody got glasses.

They are vintage Oliver People and I love them. For now.
Probably like how a young kid thinks braces are cool and they are excited to have them.
I will probably realize soon that they aren't that cool to have, but for now....
Call me 4 eyes.

thanks for the bad vision, mom!

IM CRYING.

You're welcome.

Movie Madness

When I moved to Los Angeles, I became friends with a bunch of movie snobs.
It seemed like all we did was see movies (they call them films).

I have always loved going to the movies, but now I think I appreciate it in a different way.

I've seen a lot of movies lately &
here are a few thoughts..

Muppets is a MUST SEE.
I didn't know what to expect, but I knew a bunch of my friends whom I trust, loved it.
So with two movie snobs, Greg and Kenny, I went to the Grove to see it.
It did not dissapoint.
Plus, Jeremiah from Rachel Zoe was there
so that was fun and hes just as darling in real life.

I saw the preview for Like Crazy when Ingrid Michaelson tweeted about her song
being played in it.
I instantly knew i wanted to see it.
Visually its a beauty, the story is really sweet at times, and i liked it....
but not, LIKE CRAZY.

My friend Peter told me about this movie last January when he saw it at Sundance.
It was one of his faves and I usually agree with him on movies.
I had no idea what this movie was about, just that it was crazy town.
Christine and I saw it, and well...it was INSANE.
Totally disturbing and i left feeling confused and a little bit anxious.

I have loved Michelle Williams since Dawson's Creek.
When i heard she was playing Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn, I was a little skeptical.
She is a great actress but is she a Marilyn?
Turns out...Yes. Yes she is.
Her romance with a young boy is pretty boring and slow, but shes great.
And the young boy is so darling.
I would give the movie a B-.
It helm my attention but hardly.

Everytime one of these Twilight movies comes out I say I'm not seeing it.
I could care less about this series, but my girlfriends love it.
I went with Chelsie and Legacy to see Breaking Dawn and I laughed the whole time.
Kristen Stewart looks like a meth head and shes a bad actress.

The Descendants was great.
I loved everything about this movie.
George Clooney is such a good, sexy, actor.
The daughters were so believable.
Hawaii is pretty.
The relationships seemed real and human and I would see this again.

And the Muppets.
Defenitely seeing the Muppets again.

How to make Chocolate Covered Apple Bites - Yum!

tada
I love everything mini (so does everyone).

And a caramel apple is a little bit too sweet and HUGE for my taste, and duh, I love Chocolate.

Tonight I made these. I've made them before and posted about it years ago but I still get asked how to do it and so here is a step by step. Its not hard, and it totally is a crowd pleaser.

Move over cake pops (barf).

----What you will need to make (roughly) 3 dozen apple bites----
-4 apples (i did 2 of green and 2 of red cause I am FESTIVE and cute)
-a melon baller
-dipping chocolate (i like to use milk chocolate)
-lollipop sticks
-toppings (this time i did cinnamon and sugar, graham crackers and mini semi sweet chips)

Ok so lets get started!
First you have to cut the lollipop sticks in half, slanted so they are pointy, little, paper, knives.
step1

Next, after washing your apples of course, get out your melon baller and start going to town
step2
let the apples dry up a bit on a paper towel so that the chocolate will stick better
step3

Melt your chocolate
step4

Stick each lollipop stick into each apple piece, skin side...obviously. (Not pictured)

Dip each apple into your chocolate and then immediately spoon on your topping (dont dip or they will look bunk, like the ones pictured...i forgot at first)
step6

Let them sit in the fridge for 15 minutes to totally harden
step7

Pack em up and ship them out!
Because if you don't you will eat them all.
step5

Don't try to be a hero and do caramel, cause it WILL NOT STICK.
And don't say I didn't warn you when you decide to try it anyway like a total dummy.

I Can Smell His Face

I loved the first one...and I love the second one even more.

Jenny Slate is a genius.

(also i shared this with my sister today via phonecall, and listened to my little nephew Lincoln laugh his head off to it.)

Happy Halloween!

Before i start this post, let me just say....THANK GOODNESS HALLOWEEN IS OVER.
Does everyone else feel like this holiday lasted a whole week instead of just one night, like usual?
Ugh, so over Halloween.

TMZ of the week

my newest crush is Tristan  Macmanus from Dancing with the Stars.
Is he not a dreamboat?
I saw him at the Grove last weekend and was too embarrassed to say hello, but then i saw him again two days later walking down Sunset, all by himself in front of the karaoke bar I was going into with my coworkers...so I decided I would say hello this time!

"TRISTAN!"
and he turns around and says "yes?"
and i just say "HI! I LOVE YOU!"
and he says "uhhh thanks"

Oh gosh, im an idiot.
Never speaking up again.

----------------------------------------------------

in other celebrity news...
Spotted McSteamy and his Noxzema girl wife on 3rd street....
and then 20 minutes later i noticed Arnold Schwarzenneger in my rear view mirror,
driving his Aston Martin behind me.
