Dealey Plaza

the one picture i have with me in it, i felt like an idiot "um excuse me, would you mind taking my picture?" dumb tourist.

the plaque at the head of Dealey Plaza

the fence where the 2nd shooter was "supposedly" standing behind atop the Grassy Knoll.

the view of the "2nd shooter"
(the X on the ground is where the 2nd bullet hit President Kennedy)

a perfect view of the entire scene, on the Tripple Underpass.

When i found out that i was coming to Dallas i asked a few of my Dallas friends what there was to do, and Stephen from work told me i should go to the "grassy knoll" which i didnt even know was in Dallas...a Rangers Game, and to Six Flags. Well i have no interest in going to a Rangers game or to Six Flags, but seeing a peice of History is always right up my alley. So i made the trip Downtown to see it. It was pretty cool/creepy. There were all kinds of homeless people that were selling brochures and magazines all about the assasinations (dont worry i didnt contribute to their drinking fund), and seeing some of their pictures, like Jackie O picking up a piece of the Presidents skull off the car, and his blood spraying on her...and then looking up from the picture and seeing the exact surroundings of it was pretty mind blowing. For a split second i felt like i was in the 60's, right out of Hairpsray, standing there in my little plaid poofy dress and cardigan. It was weird. What was even weirder is that people make it their job to sit there and tell you all about it and sell pictures of the blood spray. Gross.

ONE MORE WEEK...

OF HELL.

its official. I am staying. Till the 30th. BOOOOOOOOOO!

a peek into my life

a couple of the reps wrestling
giving eachother a piggy back ride!
this is the cat hospital in Colleyville. I have passed it a few times with Lanni and everytime we see it we want to shoot it. its so gross.
Where the Dallas Cowboys play. That stadium is GHETTO
a skyline in Dallas.

Just a Regular Wednesday...

So here is my little baby rental. Isnt she cute? No sebring, but i guess i will keep her. I was talking to my sister on the phone while driving and i was like "Megan, i LOVE this car, i want a new Passat" and she being the brat she is says "oh really...i have one" Thanks for the reminder, Megs.

And i may of jumped the gun on announcing that i am coming home on Saturday. I just made a call to the owner to get the update on everything cause the Reps are claiming their boss is letting them stay, so i have to stay...and the owner said its a 50/50 chance. And i am supposed to be packing this office tomorrow. So i need to know, kind of like, TODAY...but i probably wont find out until tomorrow. I want to cry. But alteast i have a car.

I went to Dallas to Urban Outfitters, West Elm, and American Apparel. I bought a chandelier at Urban that is very cute, I am envisioning it above my bed...

an update for KRISTINE

dear Kristine,

I am staying the extra week here in Texas. One of the techs gave me his tv last night (he is an 18 year old smoker and wants me bad, can we blame him? and he left last night, and i got his tv. its great). Tonight i went to my friend Lannis parents house for dinner, in Colleyville for Tacos. Last sunday we had Korean steak, and it was probably the best meal i have ever had. It is hot and sweaty here. The reps are coming around and inviting me to do stuff. I went with them to church today, and to the mall last night. I bought a new book, its called the Long Way Home. I will let you know how i like it.

That is all.

Move over Jack Weyland

OMG! For those of you who LOVE Jack Weyland, if you have not read Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse yet, than you are in for a treat!

ok so i do have to admit, i was a huge jack weyland fan when i was in jr high and highschool. I remember getting the newest books every Christmas..always titled some cute tom boyish name that i was so jealous i didnt have. My personal favorite Jack book was always Michelle and Deborah, but maybe thats just me....anyway....

So the Stephanie Meyer craze has swept the nation, and can i just say "is no one else out of the Jack Weyland phase other than me?" Seriously. For a long time i was putting off reading this trilogy because, WHO CARES TO READ A FICTION LOVE STORY ABOUT A HUMAN AND A VAMPIRE? not me. it sounded a little harry potter-esque, and for those of you who know me well, you know how i feel about Fantasy anything. Boooooo.

So out of part curiosity, part boredom I started reading Twilight. I had heard enough about how great it was, and i had no tv or computer in my apartment here in dallas (still dont) so i filled my down time reading this book. I guess it was written for a 12 yr old cause it took me no time to read. So i moved onto the second book, New Moon. Same thing. I read these because i had nothing else to do, not because i really enjoyed them. They are mindless and unrealistic, and i just cannot wrap my head around the idea of falling in love with a vampire. I am not writing this to offend anyone, saying that you have the mind of a 12 yr old...im not. I think its great that everyone is reading. I think im just a book snob. Sure, they are entertaining enough and they are keeping me from killing myself here, so i have to give them that much credit.

But seriously guys, you really think this is the best book ever? Seriously?

(i am finishing Eclipse tonight. HOORAY!)

Creamy goodness in a cardboard bucket.

Why is this heaven sent ice cream only sold in Texas? I discovered it my first night here when my dear friend Lanni took me to a walgreens to get a few items...i bought a digornio pizza, tortilla chips and queso, a case of waters and a little teensy pint of this delicious strawberry ice cream. It was the cheapest kind, which is why i was first drawn to it. And i noticed that it didnt have a plastic seal around the top so i hesitated thinking it might be poisoned...but then i quickly got over that and bought it anyway. The next morning i opened it and ate the entire thing throughout the day. So when i finally made it to the grocery store last friday i bought this normal sized carton. And i have been rationing it, so its still more than half way full. I only eat it a spoonful or two at a time, and since its strawberry i feel like i am relatively healthy still. Ridiculous i know, but Im being serious. Its so delicious and it stays soft and creamy even when you turn your freezer to the coldest possible dial (i tested it, i was so curious to see if it would get hard).

If youre ever in Texas, buy Blue Bell Ice Cream. Its not the cheapest kind when you go to Krogers (this bad boy cost me 6 bucks), but if you go to walgreens the pint is only 1.75! You wont be sorry!

(one of my texan friends told me that the cookies and cream has WHOLE cookies in it...i shall try that next if i ever make it to a store again.)

Employee of the Month

The Sales manager just asked me this morning if i would be willing to stay an extra week. Meaning i would be in Texas until September. He said they would pay me "handsomely" and i also through in "no way unless i have a rental the ENTIRE time"...but its still in the talking stages, so we will see. Part of me wouldn't mind the handsome pay but the other part of me wants to die when i think about staying in Texas....

Good News!

a rental car is on the horizon. And when i say horizon, i mean...a week from today. GEEZ. I dont know how i am going to survive another week without a car. Just staying here. Never leaving Euless, only staying in the Camden Oasis Apartments. its depressing. I am rationing the one book i have left...its only like 600 pages (only you say? that sounds like a lot yes, but i have no form of entertainment so i READ, and thats it.) so it will last me 2 more days if i can find something else to do like pick my face or organize my toiletries, AGAIN.

Today when i was getting ready for this lovely day of work, i was listening to my ipod on shuffle. I have the new Maroon 5 CD on my ipod, but i havent really listened to it AT ALL, and the song "I Wont Go Home Without You" came on and i am OBSESSED now. Its so catchy and fun. I havent even listened to the words but i have been listening to it all day. Is that weird? How does that work? Anyway it reminds me of an old beachy song...the chorus atleast. I dont know why. This post is pointless. Im bored. Sorry.

the office: Dallas branch

this is what i see upon entering...
the boys really have pride in their office. they keep it very tidy.
my desk, and breakfast, lunch and dinner (reduced fat cheezits, yum!)
the beautiful scenic view i have right outside my window.

I just thought some of you (mom) would like to see my lovely office. I LOVE IT HERE. I hope i find a husband to take me to Euless and who will never want to leave. Thats how much i love it.

i HATE sales reps.

So having no car in a place that has NOTHING within walking distance really sucks. I have 2 pop tarts and a quarter of a bag of tortilla chips, to my name. And about 30 bottles of water. Thats it. And i have no way to get to the store. I just emailed my boss begging for a rental car because none of the sales reps or their wives will take me to the store. They just keep saying "i cant believe they didnt give you a rental" and "just called the owner and demand a car." Are these people not Christian? I mean, all i need is a ride to the store. Me demanding a car from the owner of the company, the man who overpays these people...seems a little bit ridiculous, dont you think? I mean the super target is literally 1 exit down the highway. I could be done in 20 minutes. FREAK!

Euless, better known as USELESS

I am officially living alone in Euless, TX. Boooo. It is HOT, and HUMID, and i am disabled for the time being without a car. No friends, no car, in a foreign town...it pretty much sucks. I am lucky to have the companionship of a few good books...but other than that i have nothing to report. I slept in until noon today, not because i needed the sleep, cause i most defenitely sprung out of bed at 8:15...but i forced myself to sleep because WHAT ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? I have no computer in my apartment, or a TV...but i do have a cable hookup and a router just laughing at me...sitting there on my floor.

Here is the good news...FREE AIR CONDITIONING. So you better believe that my apartment is a cool, dry 65 degrees.

(and when i say DRY i mean not the bathroom, because i have no shower curtain so it gets pretty wet in there...again this is when a car would be nice)

femininity FOREVER

Im incredibly bored since i have turned my offices over to other individuals in my department, and i am leaving in the morning for dallas. So i literally have nothing to do. So i thought i would share my latest and greatest idea, coming straight from the life of miss Lauren Magleby.

After watching Hairspray and seeing how cute and feminine women used to be in the 60's, not to mention all of the old movies where thats all they wear...i love them and i decided that i am going to primarily wear skirts and dresses. Pants are expensive and very rarely do i feel like they are flattering. Where as i always feel pretty in a dress...so doesnt it make sense to always dress pretty? SURE DOES! Morph Time

I found this website today on my friends blog...and i am obsessed. www.morphthing.com Its hilarious. You upload your picture and you can morph your face with celebrities or with your friends. And since you have to have a straight on expressionless picture (who has those?) we decided to take some on my camera, and it was running out of juice so we got one try on each person, which is why i look retarded. Here are the results...

this is Cal, my boss...and GOLLUM
me and Carrie Underwood
me and Gwyneth Paltrow
Me and Kate Bosworth
and this is the ugly picture i had to use.....

Weekend Out of Provo

I know that Sundance, Salt Lake and Alpine aren't exactly vacation spots (k well maybe they are )...but they served their purpose as such, for me this weekend. Friday night it was off to the Magleby's cabin to play some karaoke and guitar hero along with a movie...it was a good time. Saturday i spent the whole day with the Dayton kids...their mom Trish is VERY pregnant, and moving into a new house this weekend...(husband Chris was sleeping all day due to driving a moving van from Reno all night) so i took the kids for the day so she could get some things done. It was really fun playing mom. We went to Hogle Zoo, and for those of you who know me, its not secret that i am not really an animal lover, but i did ok! The kids were so cute and it was so fun to see Kennedy, the little one, light up when she saw these strange creatures moving around. Sunday was spent in Alpine, soooooo so so so nice to be there. I spent the day at the Magleby's, ate a delicious meal...i got to visit my mission president who is their neighbor...it was really nice to visit with him. I havent seen him since i've been back. Jeff and lauren and i went on a nice afternoon jaunt in the electric car and then finished off the night on the patio listening to the wind chimes and talking. It was a great summer weekend...and much needed.

Now its about time to head off to Dallas for the rest of the summer for work...my first real business trip. I feel so grown up...now i just need to purchase a pantsuit...
