a few things...

Wow lots of negative feedback on my last post. I apologize. Well not really, but geez. The only time you guys have hated my blogs this much were the chiggers and the homebirthers (remember that? that was fun).

I have been insanely busy with these I like You books that its making me sad that i havent had many paintings to work on. Here are 6 that i shipped off this afternoon to a bride in Michigan. She ordered one for each of her bridesmaids. Cute right? I photographed them for real and they will be on my website later in the week, but i thought this picture of them drying (the sealant) under my desk at work was kind of funny.

My birthday party last friday night was really fun. Mike took a few pictures with his holga camera and sent me a few today...

There will be more on the party later (get excited, it involved a poetry reading), but just wanted to get something up to move the pictures of my bloody thumb off the top of my blog. YOU'RE WELCOME.

I am such a bad-A

if anyone ever says I'm not tough, i want them to come and look at my blog.
handstitches
I know this is totally disgusting (i happen to think its pretty cool...i mean THATS MY THUMB!) and it was 2 years ago, but i finally got these pictures (the befores) this weekend and i cant help myself.
thumbwound
Look at how swollen my thumb was...and how long my hair was...i look like a wounded baby.

Now here is my helpful hint of the day, if you cant find your rolling pin, using a glass vase to roll out fondant is NOT a good idea. Believe me. I know.

Olan Mills?

At the ward activity on Saturday night, there was a photobooth set up with the ever-so-talented and darling Mike Cunningham, and he insisted on taking some pictures of me and the cuz. It was fun. And i think they turned out pretty cute.

are you serious?

flowers
Emily just had these flowers sent to my office for my birthday. Are you serious? She is so great.

Thanks EM! I love it! Such a good surprise!

and yes i have crazy eyes and yes i am sketching out illustrations for personalized I Like You Books, i got a lot of orders (funny tid-bit, the original i like you book was made for emily for her birthday that was on monday)

Thoughts of a Thursday

  • I have a BAD cold. I cant focus on anything, and i will be really surprised if this post comes out coherent.
  • the SMOOTH AWAY hair removing pad things actually work. I bought it on tuesday and decided to give it a try. Now, i am not a hairy person so maybe it doesnt work for everyone but it worked for me. I will be keeping it in my car because even though it does work, its not very efficient. It takes a long time to get smooth legs with that thing. A way bigger pain than shaving. So i think i will just keep it in the center console and pull it out if im on my way to church and notice i missed a spot on my legs or something. Otherwise its pointless. So if you were wanting to buy one, just know you aren't going to be throwing away your razor anytime soon.
  • Yesterday was my birthday and thank you thank you for all of your kind words and texts and wallposts on facebook (81 of them! 81? that is insane). And sorry if i missed your call. My phone is seriously retarded because it doesnt tell me when i have a missed call and it also doesnt allow me to check my voicemail, so thats why its full. But thank you thank you for calling if you did...(i went and checked and i had 13 missed called from my friends, so nice!)
  • Speaking of birthdays, somethings going on in Huntington tomorrow night for my birthday and im so excited to find out what it is. I'm going to be accompanied by these wonderful people....
travelers
  • American Idol last night was good. I rarely know all of the songs that the contestants sing, and last night i knew them all. I hate to say this but that nasty Adam Lambert was really really really good. I've been listening to it on repeat via a really crappy youtube recording.
  • Is anyone besides my sister Megan and I watching High School Reunion on TV Land?

jack

sorry, mine is cuter.

Meet Jack. He's 4. He likes the color green, power rangers, coloring, preschool and video games.
We had this conversation last night....
Me: "Jack, i love you"
Jack" I love you too, Shauna. You're pretty"
Me: "Thanks, you're handsome."
Jack: "Handsome? uh I'M AWESOME!"

Photo Essay of my Weekend

worldsugliestdog
Went to breakfast on Main in HB and spotted this hideous human like dog with better hair than me. Depressing and totally disgusting.

Katie Rose got me a ticket a few weeks ago (for my birthday, isnt she great? Love KR) to see Missy Higgins in LA, and so on our way to the show we stopped to eat at some darling little place somewhere in LA.
dinner
So little did i know, the sweater im wearing...yeah it was inside out all night.
orpheumsign
Got to the theatre (american idol hollywood week was here...its beautiful inside) and saw a bunch of lesbians....
jessica_sytycd
And also saw this lady at will call picking up her ticket. Recognize her from last seasons "So You Think You Can Dance?"?
joshlindsay1
So i guess i am some sort of famous person magnet, because somehow i spotted these two after the SYTYCD girl (which oddly enough i knew it was her the second i saw her, and she was on that show for like 30 seconds, my brain remembers all things pop culture. its very strange).
joshlindsay2
Its TV stars Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) and Lindsay Price (Lipstick Jungle and the original 90210)
joshlindsay3
She enjoyed the concert, didnt seem to be enjoying him much. He started off really touchy, she was stand offish, and the rest of night he was totally pissed that he got dragged to this concert and probably spent a pretty penny on those seats and she wasn't even into him AT ALL. I smell a breakup.
missyhiggins
Missy Higgins, the most darling little aussie in the world. She sounded amazing and didnt miss a single note. It was like listening to the cd but in a room full of lesbians.
marthapresents
On the way home we stopped at Walgreens to grab Martha some birthday "presents"/crap. And apparently she loved it all so much she decided to flip me off.
beforecake
And i decided to try and make the delicious 14 layer cake i saw on Bakerella. (Linds made it last week)
marthacake
It was really pretty when it was frosted.
mikeandmike
And even prettier when it was cut.

Sidenote, this is Mike Cunningham & Michael Cunningham. Name twins and enemies. I am pretty sure they were blowing out the candles wishing the other would die so they could have their identity back.

Pretty Right?

Its Friday, its Spring, and my Brain is-a-Dumpin.

martha crafts

This morning my nephew Lincoln found my bra, and said "this is BEAUTIFUL." BAHAHAH good one Lincoln. I love that monkey.

So i am doing two giveaways on my painting site, and both have gone EXTREMELY crazy well. Its a little bit overwhelming and psycho, but also very awesome. I made a personalized book for a friend, and i thought "hmm this is a good idea, i bet people would like this book" So i put it in my etsy shop and am doing it as a giveaway that ends on Monday. Go enter it. The painting one ends today and i think it has like 80 people that entered which seems extreme considering i am not really a fan of the piece at all, but whatever. The book comments are somewhere in the 115ish range. CRAZY. People love free stuff. Go enter if you haven't yet!

I'm going to see Missy Higgins tomorrow night in LA, thanks to Katie Rose and her early birthday present to me. I am really excited. I was introduced to her about a year ago from Ben, who went and saw Mason Jennings in Salt Lake and she opened and he fell in love with her. And now i have too. And i cant wait to go. So excited.

My new favorite foods are Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits at McDonalds and Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn. Both so delicious.

I bought this dress yesterday after seeing these pictures of Allie and Katie on facebook. I'm wearing it today at work because its spring and i guess I'm a hippie now.
allie katie
it sort of feels like cheating because its knit and feels like pajamas.
And for those of you interested, it can be bought for 25 dollars at and OLD NAVY near you.
And the best part is, you think cause im short something really long would make me look shorter but you would be wrong. Even sissy thought that until i put it on last night and she told me to my face that it made me look taller and longer.

Despite the giveaway on the other blog for the book, and how its not over till Monday and all...i still have orders coming in for it so i have been sketching and doodling little illustrations like crazy. It kind of makes me want to illustrate children's books. I don't know how one goes into doing that but i think i would like it.

I have two very dear friends who just got their mission calls this last week. Hailey is going to the Independence MO Visitors Center Mission (June 10), and Kelsey is going to Harrisburg PA
(may 20). Give it up for stateside, i love it. I remember when i got my call i was like Kennewick, WA? I had never even heard of Kennewick. Felt good, felt right and all that...but still, i was like Hmm ok, a 1 hour flight, same time zone. HOW EXOTIC. Still feel great about Kennewick. Excited for these lovely ladies to go on their missions. They will be amazing.

I think maybe i did Marketing in the pre-earth life. I have been doing a lot of it these days with my little side business and bouncing ideas off with friends for their little ventures. Its kind of fun. The last couple years of my life i feel like i wasted my brain and my creative talents, so this extreme use of it all these days is refreshing.

You know what i realized? I feel really really stupid having my picture taken. And i have some really talented photography friends (as previously mentioned in the past) and i am just not one of those people who can put on a pair of bedroom eyes and pose for a camera. I always feel dumb. This is my failed attempt at being a model. BAHAHA
brandonimage

And with that...back to work.

Seriously?

cullendriver
It takes a special kind of person to put a bumper sticker on their vehicle.
Seriously? Gross
(hoping this car that was parked in our lot at work yesterday doesn't belong to one of my co-workers or i am going to feel like a HUGE jerk)

Oh yeah, there is a giveaway for a cheesy, generic, painting on my painting blog today. Enter to win it if you want to.

Oh yeah...

I can't believe i forgot to blog this hilariousness....

I was at Disneyland on Friday night, alone (sounds creepy and weird, but its not). I drove straight to Disneyland after work, and got there at about 9pm. My friends were meeting me there but were all in line at the new Toy Story ride in California Adventure (which closes at 9) so i decided to just head on into the regular park, and get something to eat. As soon as i got in i was ushered towards Tomorrowland, as a parade was about to start. It was pretty much chaos. I was tired and hungry and bored and irritated standing there alone next to the Astrogliders Rocket ride, texting Mike, when i was tapped on the shoulder. I turn around and immediately recognized the woman who tapped me. I couldn't place where i knew her from but figured she was a friend from our group and was relieved that my friends had finally made their way to Disneyland.

Immediately i am surrounded by paparazzi, and that's when I realized...she wasn't my friend. She was Nadya Suleman (aka Octomom) and she was disoriented because of the flashing bulbs and enormous crowds and was looking to be pointed in the direction of Space Mountain. I happily said "its this way" and started walking towards it with her, a daughter of hers, and some dude they were with. After about 10 yards they took off a little faster and left me in the dust. Since i was bored and alone i decided to follow them for a minute and then realized that is pathetic and weird and decided to mass text everyone that i thought might be interested in my latest run-in with the famous.

she found space mountain....thanks to me.

World Cup of Dodgeball Preview

Mike rallied us together on saturday afternoon to make this little video for a ward activity thats coming up. It was really fun, and getting hit on the head, right on your ponytail...causes a huge headache that can only be remedied with 4 ibuprofens and a dr pepper.

Me & My Gang

This past Saturday, with a great group of gals, I went to the jessica simpson/Rascal Flatts concert in Irvine. Let me tell you, it was a good time. It was basically the same show as the last time i saw them...but this time, there were sexy dancers.
BIG IMPROVEMENT GUYS.

rascal7
Before the show we met for dinner at the Spectrum... Allie (middle) was my bestest friend as a child...we have recently reunited and fallen back in love. And shes probably the tannest non-hispanic i have ever known.
rascal1
The whole gang at Wahoos.
rascal2
These are our Jessica Simpson singing faces. I couldnt forget the diva hand.
rascal8
Okkkkkkkk this was my biggest beef with her. Remember when she used to be a total doll? I think i was the only person in our entire group that actually has her new cd (its not bad/terrible), and i really do want to keep loving her...BUT, just cause youre singing with a twang now...do you have to dress like a NASCAR wife? I mean, the corset, the flannel, the cut offs, the heels, the greasy hair, the 1 million bangles....it was just NOT good. Nothing about it was good. Oh and she messed up twice...two different songs. Started over from the beginning, both times. Her words "I do this all the time....SO WHAT?"
rascal3
A little intermission seat dancing with Emily. I think this was probably when they played "Who Let the Dogs Out." (most attractive picture of myself, to date.)
rascal5
Rascal Flatts and their sexy dancers (see them in the middle section...they were like hologram shadows on that staircase from start to finish....really classy and not distracting at all)
rascal4
Emily, Aubrey and I (and katie in the back...shes so pretty)

I LIKE this book

ilikeyou1

this little book has been one of my favorites for a long time. i have a copy of it sitting on my desk, and felt the urge to crack it open.

i like it.

(shout out to Jana for teaching me how to make my blog prettier with big pictures)
