Brain Dump

-Okay, how awesome was it last night on idol when Adam (nasty) Lambert was in the bottom 2? They asked him to pick the group he was in and he said "well based on last night" and picked the people he thought were better. He thinks hes awesome. And i thought it was awesome that he was semi-deflated on national tv. I really did. If you could of seen me dancing "oh yeah...oh yeah...." Come on America, don't be gross like last year (david cook)
-So i used to be a hater of twitter, but now i actually kind of sort of maybe am addicted to tweeting. uhhhhhh what? i don't know how it happened but it did.

-Last weekend i went to Salt Lake and was able to stop by Larson and Ashleys wedding. Here i am with papa Laidlaw (aka Larry)
shaunalarry
they had my painting on display...i didn't know they were going to do that! i was excited.
monsonpointing
it looks cool, no?

-I am majorly stressed these days. This weekend i am staying in Vegas. I have to work at Anthro on Friday night, its the Art festival thing again at the mall and they want me to paint inside the store on Saturday...i have Larson and Ashley's Vegas reception that i am decorating, not to mention a stack of "I Like You" books and paintings that i need to get done PRONTO. Why cant the days be like 10 hours longer? It would help me out a lot right now.

-I definitely don't understand this swine flu. Is it a big deal? Is it not? All i know is that i have friends who were supposed to be cruising to Mexico today, who are now cruising to Catalina Island. BAHAHAHA how lame is that? And then i have another group of friends doing the Mexican riviera in a few weeks (i almost went on this one) and it looks like they may be rerouted to San Fransisco. A cruise to winter? No thank you.

-I may possibly be doing a painting for Lauren from the Hills. Yeah, you read that right. I'm kind of stoked. Hope it works out.

Paper Garlands

Rissa, I know you are over paper garlands, but these little teeny things are precious. Are they not?

garlands
(You like the asian inspired screen? Yeah my sisters house is like walking into a costplus world market, not really the backdrop i was going for, but it works)

I just cut out a bunch of little teeny banners, and stuck them to some string with some double sided tape and ta-da! Yards and yards of these little white dreams...Do it, I practically did the entire thing while watching the View. It was a cinch.

papertriangles

I am charging the battery on my camera right this very second, so maybe, just maybe, I wont constantly be posting pictures taken with the iphone???

Stop What You're Doing

and watch this video....
It's not usually my blogging style to add a video (because i rarely watch yours) but i have watched this one like 30 times today and i just cant get enough... (thanks Monica, found it on your blog)

i love me some Taylor Swift/Coldplay

Also the bird painting girl wrote a really nice little blogpost about my work and made me feel like a total jerk for calling pet people "looney tunes" i take it back. I just do not understand, but i think shes probably normal and darling.

Animal Planet for Earth Day

I apologize to those of you who have already looked at my painting site and saw this painting.
birdie
I don't like pets. I think i have made it apparent. I don't understand how someone can become attached to an animal. Cuddling with one, dressing one up, PAYING TO HAVE SOMEONE PAINT ONE? I just don't get it. Now that being said, sometimes i wish i had that little missing piece in my heart that would allow me to love God's little furry friends, but i don't. And most times i don't want it. To an extent i understand a dog. Maybe sometimes i even understand a cat...you can hold both, cuddle them, pet them...they lick you, you maybe feel like they need you and love you...

but a bird? Um...there is nothing about a bird i find appealing AT ALL. So when i was approached to do a painting of a bird for a Mother's Day gift, i was excited to add a new species to repertoire but i have to admit i instantly thought "Looney tunes, who would want a painting of their bird?"

Oh well. Happy Mothers Day anyway.

Get out of my head

Remember how i was going to the gym like every single day? That was sure neat of me. I am going to try to do that again. And eat better. Its almost summer time and I'm going to be living at the beach and I'm not going to want to look like i do right now. So I went to fresh and easy this morning before work and stocked up on some fruits and veggies and delicious lunch solutions so that i will not be tempted to run and get a snackwrap.
lunch
this is what i made myself today for lunch. There was more broccoli before i took the picture but i ate it. I am in love with broccoli, always have been. Doesn't that look delicious?

This weekend was nice and relaxing, i got a pedicure (12 dollars...can you believe that? a 12 dollar pedicure in California? Its outrageous), saw State of Play (not that good) and ate at the same Cheesecake Factory where i found a hair (not a hair from ones head) in my pizza. It was a fun time with friends and i thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This weekend I'm off to Utah for Matt's wedding, Larson's wedding and Becky's shower. I haven't been to Utah since September, so its going to be kind of fun to see everyone. And Em is coming up from HB to drive with me up there. It will be so nice not to have to drive alone.

For those of you wondering about my sandals in a previous post, they are Seychelles, and unfortunately i got them at Ross during the winter, for 12 dollars! If you know anything about Seychelles, you will know that they aren't usually 12 dollars. I just looked online, and couldn't find them so i am guessing they were a season or two ago (which makes sense since they were at Ross). But check out their website, cause they have some DARLING heels.

I'm working pretty busily on a few parties right now, and i am really excited for them to hurry and come. I will be constructing a pretty sweet (if it turns out) recycled glass chandelier, so get ready. It wont be unveiled until after Larson and Ashley's Vegas reception, so the first week in May, but it will be good. I promise. And Mikes dinner party that i am working on is going to blow you away as well. And if it doesn't then you're a real dummy. I'm also getting ready to start on Lincolns 3rd birthday party which will also be spectacular. Just wait. I am so excited about this little venture, and cant wait to get these events photographed so i can get a website up. WOOOHOOOO.

Oh and im also writing a book.

Gilly?????

gilly

dedicated to Megan, Kristine and Meridith

What a difference a day makes...

Yesterday the sun was shining, it seemed as if summer just about to start.

(in case you didn't know i work at anthropologie part time, i don't have racks of clothes in my room at the foot of my bed, would be nice though)

and then today happened

And that made me really happy.
(mainly this is just an excuse to show off my darling shoes-not my unmanicured toes)

My thoughts on Self-Portraits

Ok, so this is embarrassing. I was looking through some of my old pictures on facebook and came across something i am extremely embarrassed of. Self portraits. BAHAHAHAHAH. I remember when i thought that these pictures were darling...oh man.
weird3
Cool angle, Shauna.
weird2
Cute fish face, pretty curly tendrils.
weird1
This one was taken in a mirror. O.M.G. I was such a dork. (i remember thinking it was really cute cause i had no makeup on and my new Northface fleece and i thought i looked sporty cute. BAHAHHAA)

Mind you this was like probably 3+ (please bless it was longer ago than that) years ago, so don't judge me. I am no longer a self portrait taker. In fact i think its totally weird when people take pictures of themselves, and i am so embarrassed that i was that person at one time in my life.

If you don't now, you will.
My darling friend Michael, is just so talented. I have been hanging out with him all weekend, and its been so great. He used to be my next door neighbor in Provo, where we became close. He lives in LA and its so fun to have him around and be able to see him a lot. I think he likes being around me too cause no one laughs harder at everything he says than i do.

Shameless Self Promoting Dump

As i sit here at my desk eating this delightful McDonald's fruit and yogurt parfait (how did i live without these for so long?) I cant help but have a few things on my mind that need to be expelled from taking up room in my brain. So on with the brain dump.
  • Trying to get Mothers Day painting orders in as early as possible so I'm not in a mad rush (probably still going to happen, but what can ya do?)Untitled-1
here are a few i have done for mothers day (not sure why they are blurry, check the non-blurry images of them out over on the site) I worked my butt off this week to be able to post one new painting each day and i have to admit, I'm pretty pleased with myself. I was able to get a lot of really cool new ideas painted, and I'm excited to do more.
  • Also i am really trying to make a good living off of this side business of mine, and Barack Obama and his economy are making it kind of difficult. So dear friends, if you plug me on your blog...a good, honest, thought-out plug and one of your friends orders a painting. I will paint one for you for free. Maybe you will have to pay shipping. But i will do it for free. A small one (like 10x10 or 12x12 or something) of anything you want. If you don't have a blog, and your friend orders one, that works too. And i probably wont get around to them before mothers day, but just talk to me and we can figure out when and what and where and so on and so forth. Thanks guys! (for those of you who have already done these great little blog write ups and one of your people ordered a painting, maybe we can work something out...email me shavs.lewis@gmail.com
  • I'm going to the Getty tomorrow. I'm really excited. I have never been but i have seen everyone's pictures and it looks so beautiful and fun, and I'm excited about the company that will be accompanying me.
  • Still loving the iphone. Not as attached to it a week later, which is good news.
  • All of a sudden I'm kind of starting to feel like i understand twitter a bit more. I am trying to really get into it so that i can really use it as a marketing and networking tool for my business, and so far so good. Don't be shy guys, follow me on twitter!
  • I built this vanity in my room in HB. There was this weird nook in the wall right by the closet that is a total wasted space. So the extreme makeover in me decided to build a little spot to do my makeup (store my ribbons and crap?).
    vanity
I bought the shelf at ikea, had it cut at home depot, bought the brackets at Anthropologie (sad, you cant see them, they are really pretty) the cording for the light at ikea, lampshade at target, mirror from momma, put it all together and ta-dah! Instant vanity. I love it. I really really love it. I will take pictures of the entire thing clean and pretty when its all done and when i actually live there.
  • I'm working on a few different parties right now to build my portfolio and its so much fun. My thoughts have been consumed with favor boxes and menus and invitations and it couldn't make me happier.
(just got some temporary tattoos in the mail today for some favor boxes...its going to be great)
  • Why are people so nasty?
    nasty
Multiple things wrong with this. 1. the actual sticker. Seriously? You thought this was great? You thought it was great enough to actually buy? 2. Why the H do people put stickers on their car? Its disgusting 3. You have the guts to DRIVE around town with not only a sticker on your car, but THIS sticker? REALLY?
fruit and yogurt parfait...finished.

Blogging from my phone

-I got an iphone. Its glorious. I am literally always connected now. I was at michaels today google chatting with CC, Linseys mom. It was wonderful. I love multitasking and efficiency so it really is a dream come true.
-What is with people who insist on being so different that they try so hard and its not appealing or believeable at all. Take Megan Joy from American idol and lady gaga for example. BARF. Both of you, get a real personality and stop trying to be so "weird" it doesnt make you cool, it makes you sort of pathetic and nauseating.
-I did a painting for larson that can be found on my painting site. I really love it. Possibly my new favorite.
-Favorite conference talk (still havent seen all of the 4th session yet due to napping with lincoln) was Elder Holland's on Sunday morning. The events leading up to the Atonement. I was talking to Emily about it last night and we discussed how it made us think of the Atonement with a different point of view than we normally do, and i loved it. Also, what about that story that President Monson shared! Oh my gosh. That poor lady who burried all of her children with a table spoon and then with her bare hands? Uh last time i complain about the economy. Geez.
-Rascal Flatts new cd comes out tomorrow. Tonight kind of feels a little bit like Christmas eve. Ok not really, but im excited.
-Speaking of country music, so maybe i just finished watching the country award show from last night and maybe i got teary eyed and was actually clapping at the tv when Taylor Swift won album of the year. There is not a cuter, more darling 19 yr old on the planet. Not one.
-Also confirmed to me during the awards show...i wish i was carrie underwood, or atleast just had her face...and hair...and body. I would be fine with my own life but why is it fair that someone looks like that AND is talented? its not fair.
-I saw this guy at Office Max today and was so confused about his body shape but mainly just wanted to use my new fancy phone. Which is also why i am blogging all of this on the phone, which i will never do again. This has taken WAY too long.

Fool me once...

Ok so i know this is a few days late but whatever. Here it is anyway.

April fools day, i come into work...sign into gmail (like i do every morning at 9am) and see that my friend Aubrey changed her status to "Moving to London in May!!!!" I don't think I'm much of a fool, but this day i was. You see, she recently returned from Europe, and i know she loves London. She has a good friend there so it seems believable.
londonflat
Our conversation went as follows...
me: you're not moving to London
Aubrey: yes i am!
in 4 weeks
Kevin is letting me stay with him til i can find a flat to rent
me: shut the eff up
Aubrey: I'm getting a job at the new London design center in Chelsea
for reals
I'm soooo stokefd
stoked*
my rooommates hate me
they don't want me to go
me: shut up
this is the best thing i have ever heard
Aubrey: I'm so glad you're happy for me.
most were mad that i was going out there...
i think its gonna be amazing
me: uh yeah and i hope you're going to be glad when i come and stay at your house
i mean...your flat
Aubrey: i loved it over there, so why not?
haha...of course
me: yeah WHY NOT
you are single
you are talented
you are brave
You can do anything
now is the time
Aubrey: exactly.....except......
APRIL FOOLS
bahahahahahahahaha
got you
me: I HATE YOU

See what i mean? I'm a fool. There i was, giving her a peptalk, being supportive and she just rudely tells me its all a lie.

You think i wouldn't fall for the gchat status April fools joke again...you'd be wrong.

It was later in the day, probably in the 8'oclock hour when i saw Brandon's status. Something about another Daewoo.

me: did something happen to your altima?
Brandon: Still have it but I'm going to sell it
I used to have a daewoo, and it was awesome, This morning I went down the tijuana auto auction cause they have some crazy crazy deals and I bout a 1999 Daewoo for 750 bucks!
bought
me: what the?
wow
sweet
Brandon: Yeah, then I made it up and and wrote it on gcaht, april fools your A
me: you are so dumb
daewoo

Shame on me for falling for this twice. I feel like an idiot.

I'm 26.

Ok so this is the end of any talk concerning my birthday. But for those who planned it and those who attended and those who couldnt be there, this post is for you.
birthday1
Some of my bestest friends came into town for the celebration.
Kelsey(Vegas), Marci(costa mesa), KR(HB) and the Meadows (Salt Lake)
birthday2
Christy Moe got me those awesome silly straw glasses (which my nephews are now obsessed with). Look at all those people! I was in shock.
birthday7
Aubrey got me these beautiful roses...very romantic.
birthday5
Mike(left) is the one responsible for the Blairwitch style photography captured that evening. Meredith and Jeff(right)..thanks for coming guys (isn't merz so pretty? i love this picture of you, girl.)

birthday3
More of the crowds...boy i sure do have a lot of friends in California.
birthday8
After dinner we went back to the girls house for a few other things they had planned. Here is Aubrey (giver of the roses which my roommates and i later played Bachelor with, it was fun) and Brig.
birthday6
the delicious and impressive cake that KR designed and created. Dre, Allie, and Daile enjoying some of that cake.
dddgals
where my girls at? Almost HALF of the DDD (if only Rhyll wasn't on a cruise...)
birthday10

birthday4
The night ended with a light poetry reading by my friends. Neil (right) was the soundpiece to start off the poems and man, they were funny.

Here is Neils poem:

Dear shav,
you are short,
kind of like
A quick retort,

you make cakes
like my mom makes pans,
thin,
but too thin,
goes straight to my calfs,

You live in vegas,
like I live in Cal,
but when you drink
you call me hal,

So that one didn't
have a good rhyme,
sue me or something,
I'm doing just ok,

You have a drug problem,
hitting tylonal pm
when the time starts with an "a"
I'd criticize you,
but it seems rude,
good thing I don't got no attitude

Kind of like jumping on an air mattress,
like it's a trampoline,
but really it's not,
it's your portable sleeping cuisine

Cuisine can mean,
whatever I want,
in this case,
a portable cot

I smoke dope,
but only when writing pimp, linguistic notes,
making this poem,
kind of lome,
lome is my new word,

I use to mean lame,
when lame won't rhyme,
with the word I want,
at a specified particular spot,

if it means something else,
perhaps not proper,
I don't take accountability,
I'm not a *ing word dropper - What?!

What-what this poem's about to drop,
like a bomb on bagdad,
I start wars for my old dad,
I put politics into my rhymes,
cause it's my only way of starting up crime,
I now will list all my complaints,
from the weather to Mike Saint
Mike Saint always serves in the square,
while my partner just returns it straight into the air,
I'm really thirsty right now,
cause there's no water in reach,
and K-rocks upstairs,
cause she's straight asleep,
and I'm stuck in the foyer
watching latino dudes,
rip up the front doorway,
seems kind of rude

this table I'm typing on,
doesn't feel that strong,
and I need a shower,
if I'm gonna have a chance to get it on,
My life's a little crazy
Kind of like Jay-z
Managing Rihanna,
but not Mr. Chris B

Kind of like JT
Dating the Biel,
but his eyes wandering,
like a player for a steal,
Did you read that blog today?
Where that one guy said that one thing,
and then that other one had nothing to say?
It was cra-zay,

Now to rap up,
so I can start this nap up,
I'd like to just speak up,
and say this day's measuring up,
got me all fired up,
to keep typing up,
quit my job and take a new career up,
Kind of like the Phoenix,
Taking my life to it's zenith,
grow a beard,
drink a beer,
start to rhyme so all can hear,
room - boom,
boom - room,
this poem,
was totally, totally doomed...
Luckily my word doc just ran out of room.

and here is Pete's:

Shauna has a cute lil batootie,
That adds to her darling and beauty,
With her style and her smarts,
Her crafts and her arts,
Becoming like her is our duty.

Adorable huh? There were many others that were grand that i will later possibly be posting, but these two emailed me their poems so i fortunately have them with me at work.

All in all, it was a grand time, i felt very loved and now....im 26. WEIRD.

You're Invited!

I'm a creative gal. Always have been. I've also always been rather/extremely social. That being said....I'm finally going to do what has been my ambition for as long as i can remember....

Shauna Lewis: Event Planner

Now, i just need a few parties to plan. Anyone need a free wedding planner? Have a shower coming up that you don't want to deal with? Let me know. I need to build a portfolio so i can get my website going. And i know its April Fools day, but this is seriously not a joke. And if you know me personally, you know this is not a joke and that I have wanted to do this forever. Having been selling my artwork for the last year or so has helped me feel more confident in myself and my creative abilities as well as my knack for marketing and networking. I really do feel like this is something that i not only will love to do, but something I will excel at.
pp
So i need your help.

First with what was mentioned above...i need events. I am not looking to be paid at this point, just need people who are willing to let me take control of their event be it a shower, birthday party, engagement party, wedding reception, whatever.

and Second...

I need a name for my little business venture. Something cute and light and fresh and clean. Thats kind of what im going for. Any ideas?
