lurker here, but i have to say that i know someone who owns a pair..
course his reasons are legit..
he's going to navy seal school.
My dad has a pair and he LOVES them. He said they really work his calves and are super comfortable.
lurker here too...my husband has been wearing these for all of his road running and Crossfit workouts (for the past year) and they have helped his form, etc. a ton. he doesn't ever wear them any other time though, just for working out everyday, as it's really good for your feet.
marc wants them. the second counselor in our ward has them and says they are awesome. apparently they help with shin splints.
i have seen people who are rock climbers wear them while rock climbing. i feel that that should be allowed...but walking around town? i dont know about that one. but i have seen worse.
They are hideous.
